The Summits of the Americas bring together the Heads of State and Government of the Western Hemisphere to discuss common concerns, seek solutions and develop a shared vision for their future development of the region, be it economic, social or political in nature. Summits of the Americas Follow-up System (SISCA) OAS and Colombia kick start the Summit of the Americas Process for 2012 The Organization of American States (OAS) and the government of Colombia on Thursday kick started the process towards the Summit of the Americas 2012 in the meeting of the Joint Summit Working Group (JSWG), held at OAS Headquarters in Washington, DC. United Nations Development Programme joins the Joint Summit Working Group UN organization becomes thirteenth member of JSWG
In October 2009, the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) accepted the invitation of Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza to join as a member of the
Joint Summit Working Group (JSWG). The UNDP joins the OAS and eleven other partner institutions of the JSWG , which was created in 2001 to increase institutional coordination of inter-American and international organizations to support the Summits Process. |
